What is Flipped Learning?

We have #flipband.

Others a flipped or blended classroom.

We practice and get one on one mini lessons.

Others get individual tutoring or work in groups as the lessons and material suits them.

We’re all ends of the same spectrum and we’re achieving our goals without daily lectures or traditional practice or homework.

According to the Flipped Learning Network (@flippedlearning),

Flipped Learning is a pedagogical approach in which direct instruction moves from the group learning space to the individual learning space, and the resulting group space is transformed into a dynamic, interactive learning environment where the educator guides students as they apply concepts and engage creatively in the subject matter (2014).

What we do in #flipband is just this. While we are a unique blend of old and new, flipped and traditional rehearsal, we strive to provide an environment where students can work at their own pace, discover new practice methods, and engage in group dialogues and practice sessions en route to mastery of a variety of musical skill sets.
